Frosted Orange - Gortyna flavago.

The moth is from the family of Noctuidae -- subfamily --- Xyleninae.

It Is a medium-sized macro moth, with a wingspan of 35 to 40 mm.

There is one generation, flying from August to October.

The moth's habitat is widespread over many areas grassland, woodland, waste ground, marshes, fens, scrub and coastal areas.

The species overwinters as an egg.

The larva appears from April to August.

The larva feeds inside the lower part of the stems of plants such as Thistle and Burdock, where it also pupates head upwards.

The moth is classified nationally as a Local species of the UK.
