Hello, from Steve Garten and welcome to my weird and wonderful world of moths.

Iā€™m amateur Lepidopterist, I trap and record moth species on my six acre wildlife meadow at Tibenham Norfolk, UK.

The list of moths listed in this Macro-moths blog and the Micro Moths blog are the species I have recorded since 2015.

L-album Wainscot - Mythimna l-album

L-album Wainscot - Mythimna l-album A Macro moth species from the family of Noctuidae , sub family Hadeninae. The moth has a wingspan of 30 to 35 mm. One of the more distinctively marked of the wainscots. Its favours habitats are open ground, woodland, and a range of other habitats where its foodplant is found. The moth can be found on the wing in two generations: in July and again in September and October. The species' life history is the overwintering caterpillars feed on a range of grasses. This species was originally restricted to the southern counties of England from Cornwall eastwards to Kent but may now be slowly spreading northwards. This species is classified as Nationally Scarce B.
