Hello, from Steve Garten and welcome to my weird and wonderful world of moths.

I’m amateur Lepidopterist, I trap and record moth species on my six acre wildlife meadow at Tibenham Norfolk, UK.

The list of moths listed in this Micro-moths blog and the Macro Moths blog are the species I have recorded since 2015.

Small Barred Long-horn - Adela croesella.

Small Barred Long-horn - Adela croesella. A micro moth species from the family of Adelidae , subfamily Adelinae . The moth has a wingspan of about 11 o 14 mm. The males of this species have very long antennae, the females shorter with a thickened base. This species’ habitat is areas containing the larval foodplants. This moth is on the wing from late May and June, and flies during the day in sunshine, visiting flowers. The species’ life history is that the larvae are thought to feed first on sea buckthorn or privet flowers, later building a portable case from leaf fragments and particles of soil and feeding on fallen leaves. Dispersed locally throughout England and Wales. This species is classified as local in the UK.
