Hello, from Steve Garten and welcome to my weird and wonderful world of moths.
Iām amateur Lepidopterist, I trap and record moth species on my six acre wildlife meadow at Tibenham Norfolk, UK.
The list of moths listed in this Macro-moths blog and the Micro Moths blog are the species I have recorded since 2015.
Campion - Sideridis rivularis.
The moth is from the family of Noctuidae, subfamily Hadeninae.
This is a small to medium-sized macro moth, with a wingspan of 27 to 30 mm.
The Campion closely resembles The Lychnis------- H. bicruris), but tends to have the two forewing stigmata joined at the base.
It feeds mainly the Campion plant species.
It overwinters mainly as a pupa, in a fragile cocoon just beneath the soil, the larva appears from June to July and August to September where there are two generations and July to September where there are one.
The moths' flight season is where there are two generations May to June and August to September.
The lava food plant is the ripping seeds of white, red and sea Campion and Ragged-Robin.
The species as a wide range of habitats mainly of open grassy areas, fens, scrub, open woodland, and gardens.
The moth is a resident common species throughout the UK.
