Setaceous Hebrew Character - Xestia c-nigrum.

Setaceous Hebrew Character - Xestia c-nigrum. A macro moth species from the family of Noctuidae sub family Noctuinae. This is a distinctive species which should not be difficult to identify. The moth has a wingspan of 35-42 mm. The moth as two generations from May to July and August to October. The moth's habitat favours gardens, woodland, heathland, and marshes. The larva foodplants are on a variety of herbaceous plants, but especially Nettle. The moth is widespread and abundant and classified nationally as a Common species of the UK.
