Hello, from Steve Garten and welcome to my weird and wonderful world of moths.

I’m amateur Lepidopterist, I trap and record moth species on my six acre wildlife meadow at Tibenham Norfolk, UK.

The list of moths listed in this Macro-moths blog and the Micro Moths blog are the species I have recorded since 2015.

Shaded Pug - Eupithecia subumbrata

Shaded Pug - Eupithecia subumbrata moth species from the family of Geometridae , sub family Larentiinae.

The moth has a wingspan of 16 to 20 mm.

This is a pale greyish member of the genus.

The species' preferred habitats are damp grassy places, salt marshes, and similar habitats.

The moths can be found on the wing in June and July, from dusk onwards, but are uncommon at light. It is more readily disturbed in the daytime from long herbage.

The species' life history is that the larvae feed on several herbaceous plants, including field Scabious and Hawk's-beard, consuming the flowers and seeds.

It is distributed mainly in southern England, especially near the coast, but does range northwards to Yorkshire. This species is classified as local.
