Hello, from Steve Garten and welcome to my weird and wonderful world of moths.

I’m amateur Lepidopterist, I trap and record moth species on my six acre wildlife meadow at Tibenham Norfolk, UK.

The list of moths listed in this Micro-moths blog and the Macro Moths blog are the species I have recorded since 2015.

Large Ivy Tortrix or Large Ivy Twist - Lozotaenia forsterana.

Large Ivy Tortrix or Large Ivy Twist - Lozotaenia forsterana. A micro moth species from the family of Tortricidae, sub family Tortricinae. The moth has a wingspan of 20-29 mm. This is one of the largest of the Tortricidae and has boldly spotted grey-brown wings. Its favoured habitats are mainly suburban habitats such as parks and gardens. The moth can be found on the wing at night during June and July. The species' life history is that the larvae feed on various trees and shrubs, showing a preference for Ivy. This species is found throughout most of Britain and is classified as common.
